Purple haze all in my eyes: RVS by V 212 limited edition spectacles
'Scuse me while I get all overexcited by the fact that RVS by V has released a new limited edition run of its wonderful 212 glasses. I wrote about the original 212 here. One hundred are available in each colour – above is Purple Haze (down-now-now-nowwww!) and below, are the others including a lovely wood (effect, I presume). Beautifully finished eyewear that will not disappoint...

Beam, Benz or Bentley: Kirk Originals' best batch yet?

Beam glasses from Kirk Originals for 2012

Beam glasses from Kirk Originals for 2012

"Beam" of course. Kirk Originals really has stepped up its game with what EWG thinks might be its best batch of bins yet. The colours, the shapes, the innovation, these glasses are good enough to eat.

The Beam collection was raved about back in September 2011, and here are a few brand new shots of some of the latest rays of light to emanate from the Kirk design house.

View more pictures on the Kirk site here...

Or watch Jason Kirk talking about them on the 2012 Designers video...

Fancy a joint? Prodesign's Zense hinge

Prodesign Denmark has launched new colours and a new shape to its award-winning Zense line. This hinge doesn't fail to make me smile. Indeed the glasses themselves grin when closed...

Over the moon: Zeiss celebrates 100 years with limited edition sunglasses from Simon Chim

Over the moon: Zeiss celebrates 100 years with limited edition sunglasses from Simon Chim

Carl Zeiss only usually gets a mention here towards the end of my posts on high-end sunglasses, a mere footnote to confirm that, as one might expect, this or that particular brilliant pair of sunglasses comes with Zeiss lenses.

Here Zeiss, famed for its lenses of all varieties (camera, microscope, medical, etc), celebrates 100 years with a special collection designed by Simon Chim, the Hong Kong designer behind Recycle Paper Frames.

Chim uses his technique of wrapping the frame in paper – relevant to Zeiss's history such as the first camera on the moon – before hand polishing.

A bridge too far? Theo by James

A bridge too far? Theo by James - James 3 and 4

A bridge too far? Theo by James - James 4

A bridge too far? Theo by James - James 3
Here are some specs you're unlikely to forget. Theo has collaborated with James Van Vossel to create this unique design, a single-wire rimless frame with a memorable looping bridge. A bridge too far? No - Theo has always created some frames that stand out and long may it continue.

We rarely feature rimless so it's a pleasure to find a pair which include such statement. Referring back to yesterday's Cazal post, are these maximal minimalism?

Theo by James is available in six colours. Square-lensed models are James 3 while round ones are James 4.
