Mykita makes Mylon for myopes...

...and hyperopes too. Mylon is Mykita's 3D-printed nylon eyewear that has hitherto been limited to big, sporty sunnies. Now Mylon is available in optical frames. From the top: Basky and Pelot, then Pelot on its own, Apollo, and finally Lathan. There are new colours too: British racing green, Imperial purple, and Ocean blue. Available in Mykita stockists. Limited-edition Beth frames from Mykita, by Beth Ditto

Mykita has teamed up with Beth Ditto to produce this exquisite limited-edition frame, "Beth". It comes in purple and white versions with violet gradient lenses. There are 100 frames in purple, and the white one, ditto.

Purple haze all in my eyes: RVS by V 212 limited edition spectacles

'Scuse me while I get all overexcited by the fact that RVS by V has released a new limited edition run of its wonderful 212 glasses. I wrote about the original 212 here. One hundred are available in each colour – above is Purple Haze (down-now-now-nowwww!) and below, are the others including a lovely wood (effect, I presume). Beautifully finished eyewear that will not disappoint...

Wooden frames get colourful, but only on FEB31st

FEB31st is a new brand from Italy which is providing a new take on wooden frames by creating a collection in natural wooden finishes but in bright colours inside and/or outside.

Designer Valerio Cometti presented the new collection earlier this month in Paris. FEB21st says its frames weigh only 21 grams, they have a reinforced nosepads and a clever method for getting the lenses in.

From the top: Crux (x3), Ara and Auriga. The FEB31st collection includes nine models: four for men, three for women and two unisex; four of these frames are available also for sunglasses. Below, three more Crux and Cygnus Sun.

Beam me up Kirk: colourful acrylic glasses for 2012

Wow! Look at the colour on these fantastic glasses from Kirk Originals. The new Beam and Sunbeam collections for 2012 are being launched at Silmo, the big eyewear show in Paris next week.

These specs look amazing; but technically they're brilliant too. They're made of acrylic. Kirk Originals has been working on these for more than a decade and while the UK designer has been using acrylic for a while now in the temples, this is the first time it's made the front of this material too.

Note the lack of any metal wire in the temple and the fantastic polish on the acrylic. Looking forward to trying a few of these on next week!

RVS by V handmade eyewear: Sugar never was so Sweet

I have a pair of RVS by V glasses and I'm not exaggerating if I say that the matt acetate finish is second to none; a delight to touch. Here RVS releases two new styles, Sugar and Sweet, both available in suitably candied colours, temples and fronts can be combined to the customer's choice.

Ørgreen and Arne Jacobsen special edition Swan chairs and frames

At last month's London Design Festival, Danish eyewear designers Ørgreen Optics joined forces with furniture specialists the Republic of Fritz Hansen to produce a series of Arne Jacobsen Swan chairs featuring the same Copenhagen skyline design as a special edition of eyewear by Ørgreen.

The chairs and eyewear collaboration, pictured here at the EDC London showroom, referred to as the Skyline Edition, marks a new addition to a series of creative projects in the Ørgreen "Playground".

Round glasses from Rims & Goggles - striking if they suit

Homer Owner of Rims & Goggles Optical Boutique in San Francisco is the first to admit that round glasses are not for everyone, but he adds, "when a man or a woman has the personality and facial structure that can be complimented by wearing round glasses, there will be few things in their wardrobe that are as strikingly individual".

Homer has a point, if they suit you they are brilliant. Here we showcase a few from Rims & Goggles' own RoundGlasses collection. Top is Architect in Cardinal Red, next down are the "high-contrast" tortoiseshell Rondo Due frames and finally the not-quite-round Jacqueline in a great crystal purple.

Swann and Polen - two terrific frames from Face à Face

Two great frames - Swann with swan-like temples and Polen (top, allergy sufferers beware) - from another great French design house, Face à Face. I love the pink detail on the front of Polen - excellent.

The Hundreds 2010 Phoenix sunglasses in black and purple

I still like The Hundreds' Phoenix sunglasses and like its decision to opt for matte finishes in purple, black and white.
