James Bond's sunglasses in Spectre: Vuarnet Glacier in black

Who makes Daniel Craig's sunglasses in Spectre? Vuarnet, that's who Who makes James Bond's sunglasses in Spectre? Vuarnet, that's who
Mr Bond, we've been expecting you...

In the latest James Bond movie, Spectre, Daniel Craig sports the rather wonderfully black and leather Glacier sunglasses by French luxury ski eyewear maker Vuarnet.

First made in the 1980s, the aviator frame combines an ultra-light metal that subtly surrounds a Mazzucchelli acetate front. Magnetic, removable side shades made from micro-perforated leather protect the eyes and improve vision.

Vuarnet Glacier are available in black matte, with flash gold glass lenses; black matte with silver flash lenses (above), and Savannah with brown flash lenses.

Ksubi 2011 glasses - All I need is the air that you breathe

Ksubi Sunglasses 2011 - All I need is the air that you breathe

That top one must be one of the best pictures featured here in a while. It feels like yesterday that I featured Ksubi's last set of great photographs but here they are again with gas masks, some weird hook thing, a one-eyed helmet, and some rather grand eyewear.

I rarely quote the promotional material I receive but, "Ksubi 2011 all seeing eyewear range - 'eye, eye' - sees mercenary heavy metal mesh, deserted island floral acetate and duty clerk optical combine for an industrial yet sculpted range." 'Tis true. Eye, eye.

Theo scores a hat-trick with Trilby, Panama, Gatsby and more...

Theo 2011 glasses collection scores a hat-trick with Gatsby...
Theo 2011 glasses collection scores a hat-trick with Panama...Theo 2011 glasses collection scores a hat-trick with Trilby...Often when I hear about themed eyewear collections my eyes roll upward and a semi-audible "tut" may be detected.

And that is of course because they're so often a sign a desperation, a lack of good ideas. Not with my little Belgian friends at Theo though, oh no.

Every collection from Theo is different, and Theo's HatStyles is elegantly so.

My recent Scandinavian tour (Iceland, and Denmark particularly) highlighted a large, minimalist, aviator-inspired, old-school granddad spectacle style that may become the retro-look of choice in 2011. And Theo joins in here a little, but only with a clever tip of the hat.

Here we feature Gatsby (top-to-bottom), Panama and Trilby. Designed by Patrick Hoet, they feature a single outline frame that holds the lenses, and each design relates directly to the hat of the same name. There's Stetson and Borsalino too - visit the Theo website for more...

Continuing our Scandinavian cruise south from yesterday's Moods of Norway we arrive at ProDesign Denmark where the aviator remains a popular glasses shape, as in the 7612, above. As does, you will notice, the keyhole bridge, in all but one of the frames above.

Fun and edgy Norwegian brand Moods of Norway makes glasses too. These crystal-blue aviator-shaped specs are terrific - expect more of these in 2011 glasses fans... Moods has stores in Iceland, Japan, the US and - you've guessed it - Norway.

Vintage 1980s aviator specs by Frederic Beausoleil

Vintage 1980s aviator specs by Frederic Beausoleil
I'm loving this relatively complex design where the browline metal is holding the thread that secures the lenses to the frame; a simple shape with a detailed execution. Great square-sectioned temples too. They're by French designer Frederic Beausoleil.

Close inspection of these refined spectacles from Qoins Eyewear reveal old-style gas lighter-inspired details, particularly at the hinge, which bears an uncanny resemblance to a flint wheel. Incredible detail and classy acetate makes the QNO1006A will attract eyewear aficionados like a moth to a flame.

Tom Ford's eye catching adverts have been here before, but I've never gone into detail on the sunglasses.

UK actor Nicholas Hoult, who co-starred in Tom Ford's directorial debut A Single Man, and Carolyn Murphy feature in the ads wearing various frames, the pick of the bunch being Henri (bottom), Nico (below) and Nikita (left). Superb.

Christina Aguilera wears Carrera sunglasses in her Not Myself Tonight video

The Carrera Endurance shades as seen on Christina Aguilera's video Not Myself Tonight, directed by Hype Williams and produced by RCA Records

Carrera Endurance sunglasses as seen on Christina Aguilera's video Not Myself Tonight, another one of 'those' videos which is getting the right wing press all hot under the collar. I think last time it was Rihanna wearing these retro 1980s shades... I like the shades. And the highly practical raincoat.

Maison Martin Margiela Incognito Assemblé sunglasses: now two aviators in one

Maison Martin Margiela Incognito Assemblé aviator sunglasses
Last week we had D&G's doubled up sunglasses, now we have the latest adventurous collection from Maison Martin Miguela, the Incognito Assemblé aviators.

Maison Martin Marguela's last collection was of course those crazy visor aviators.

I liked them but these Incognito Assemblé sunglasses are briliant.

They remind me of the mow-lines left on a lawn: when the mower goes one way, you get chunky acetate aviator; the other way, slim metal aviator.

Particularly like the way the lenses are striped too.

Will give you better pictures when I get some.

David Yurman Buckle aviator sunglasses - not a pair you'd lose in a hurry

David Yurman's Buckle aviator sunglasses

I'm still of the opinion that aviators simply don't work on some people. These, however, look great. They're Buckle aviators by jewelry designer David Yurman.

Fancy a pair? Be warned - they're made of silver or gold, so they'll set you back.

Thanks to Ximiei for alerting me to David Yurman's eyewear.
