B wears vintage Carrera aviator glasses in Soho

Thanks to B for being happy to let me snap him in his vintage Carrera glasses in Soho, London at the weekend. He bought them on eBay. He purchased wisely! I'm not sure how old these are - any ideas?

One year on: Top 10 most-read Eye Wear Glasses posts

Happy birthday to Eye Wear Glasses, which turns one today. We kick off the week with a list of the 10 most-read posts of the past 12 months. They're not necessarily the best that we've featured, and celebrities take more than their fair share of the speccy limelight, but they are what you, collectively, looked at most:

10

Michelin-starred chef Heston Blumenthal's wears bespoked Bugatti glasses...

9

Two celebrity actor/actor-musicians clearly pull in more hits than one celeb chef.

It's Shirley Manson and Elijah Wood in Oliver Peoples' 2010 ad campaign...

8
Is La Roux's Elly Jackson a new eyewear icon? Probably, yes, a little.

7
Well at this rate I can't see this list being anything but celebs. Here we have Usher. Wearing Carreras...

6

Phew, people are interested in EWG for the eyewear, not just for random celebs who occasional wear it.

Here is Christina Centenera, who looks like she might be a celeb but is actually a fashion editor, wearing Super Flat Top sunglasses...

Christina Aguilera wears Carrera sunglasses in her Not Myself Tonight video

The Carrera Endurance shades as seen on Christina Aguilera's video Not Myself Tonight, directed by Hype Williams and produced by RCA Records

Carrera Endurance sunglasses as seen on Christina Aguilera's video Not Myself Tonight, another one of 'those' videos which is getting the right wing press all hot under the collar. I think last time it was Rihanna wearing these retro 1980s shades... I like the shades. And the highly practical raincoat.

Vintage Serge Kirchhofer black sunglasses: shut me up.

Every now and then I find something that leaves me a bit speechless.

These sunglasses are by Serge Kirchhofer, a designer who worked for brands like Carrera, Dunhill and Porsche Design in the 1960s and 70s. I'm particularly excited by the prospect of a soon-to-be-released cinema docuentary about his life. With thanks to Loveiwear which has loads of good stuff like Serge Kirchhofer regularly on offer.

Carrera 5251 vintage sunglasses - do sunnies get better than this?

Sunjet by Carrera 5251 vintage sunglasses from the late 1980s: a transparent frame with green coloured lenses. These are a bit brilliant and very 2010. Thanks to Solaris Vintage.

A cup of coffee in your Carreras and behind-scenes Carrera sunglass ad

Carrera sunglasses and coffee

Found this great pic on nothing to hide's stream which got me looking at the Carrera site - so here's an exclusive (well, no not really) look behind the scenes of the latest Carrera sunglass ad campaign...

Britney Spears wears Carrera Hot sunglasses while the kids wear Carrerino

[Photo removed due to end of licensing rights]

There was once a time when young girls wanted to look like Britney Spears. I think that's changed now.

Carrera Carrerino sunglasses for boys
Carrera Carrerino sunglasses for girlsNevertheless Carrera is making the most of the 1980s retro popularity and is already preparing for the next wave of 20- and 30-somethings reminiscing in the year 2028 with the introduction of "Carrerino" especially for the children between about 9 and 13 years old...

"Carrera", "bambino" - see what they've done there?

The Carrera collection of optical frames and sunglasses is designed by Enzo Sopracolle.

Carrera sunglasses - more shades of the 1980s

Carrera sunglasses, from the 1980s, astonishingly took until March this year to be blessed with a relaunch. What took them so long?

Great picture above, thanks to Thierry Perre. More of his Carrera sunglass pictures are here

If you want more of an idea of the variety and colours, you can watch this video from the "Carrera vintage sunglasses" launch party, although I think they meant "retro".

Highly talented people share their deepest thoughts... Turn volume down or your ears may bleed.
