Horny, horny, horny - three Super sunglasses for SS2011

Anyone feeling markedly materialistic in the run-up to summer should be trying out Super's new "Horn" sunglasses. Exactly what the material is I am not sure, but the price tag starts at a reasonable €120.

Retro Super Future Liberty print limited edition Lucia sunglasses for spring/summer 2011: Peacock

Retro Super Future Liberty print limited edition Lucia sunglasses for spring/summer 2011: Poppy & Daisy
Last year's Libertyprint collaboration with Italian sunglass supremos Retro Super Future was hugely popular and 2011's Lucia sunglasses, in three iconic Liberty prints, will doubtless be blooming marvellous too. What EWG particularly likes is the combination of round lenses with a square frame shape.

Above is Poppy & Daisy, above that is Peacock, and below are 2010's Elysian. These shades, and a couple more, are available from Liberty's Great Marlborough Street store in London or online here.

Super collaborate with WeSC - superlative sunglasses

WeSC & Super sunglasses
Retro Super Future has collaborated with Swedish brand WeSC (WeAreTheSuperlativeConspiracy) to create these great black sunglasses. They come with black mirrored Zeiss lenses, with a spare set of rock-hard "pure black" lenses. Limited edition: 500 pieces.

Great bridge and clever incorporation of the WeSC logo at the hinge.

Four perfect crystal sunglasses for 2010: it's all about the contrast

One year on and another list. This one features four amazing crystal sunglasses for 2010. All in a similar subtle crystal and all getting one thing spot on: the contrast of the lens colour with the shade of the frame.

From top to bottom: L.G.R. for Antonio Marras, Retro Super Future, Juanjo Oliva, and finally Oscar Magnusson...

One year on: Top 10 most-read Eye Wear Glasses posts

Happy birthday to Eye Wear Glasses, which turns one today. We kick off the week with a list of the 10 most-read posts of the past 12 months. They're not necessarily the best that we've featured, and celebrities take more than their fair share of the speccy limelight, but they are what you, collectively, looked at most:

10

Michelin-starred chef Heston Blumenthal's wears bespoked Bugatti glasses...

9

Two celebrity actor/actor-musicians clearly pull in more hits than one celeb chef.

It's Shirley Manson and Elijah Wood in Oliver Peoples' 2010 ad campaign...

8
Is La Roux's Elly Jackson a new eyewear icon? Probably, yes, a little.

7
Well at this rate I can't see this list being anything but celebs. Here we have Usher. Wearing Carreras...

6

Phew, people are interested in EWG for the eyewear, not just for random celebs who occasional wear it.

Here is Christina Centenera, who looks like she might be a celeb but is actually a fashion editor, wearing Super Flat Top sunglasses...

Side protection sunglasses in Antarctica... safety first!

Unidentified sunglasses / safety glasses in Antarctica. Photo: JK Keller
Eye Wear Glasses is a global blog. It is mainly written in London but we have photographic contributions from all over. None however have been as far-flung as this one. Here's JK Keller in Antarctica, impressing the penguins in these smokey prescription shades. I love the two shades of grey and the double bridge.

JK chose these sunglasses from the safety frame range in a small-town optical store and had to beg them to put the prescription sunlenses in them. If you look carefully (click picture to enlarge) you can make out the side protection.

"I lost the glasses a few months later," says JK "Sad, very sad." I could not agree more.

All this was a decade ago so JK was certainly well ahead of his time. EWG applauds you!

Retro Super Future Flat Top sunglasses at Paris Fashion Week

Retro Super Future Flat Top black sunglassesRetro Super Future Flat Top black sunglassesI love this Flat Top design by RetroSuperFuture. It's a couple of years old but these sunglasses perfectly combine the classic styles of the 50s with the modern lines of the 80s - through that flat, straight brow. Almost as good as the Luciano, which I raved about a few weeks ago.

With thanks again to Trendycrew for the great picture of Christine Centenera, fashion editor of Harper's Bazaar Australia, at Paris Fashion Week - visit Trendycrew.com for more.

RetroSuperFuture Luciano sunglasses

RetroSuperFuture Luciano sunglassesThings are gonna get a bit busy as of tomorrow: Silmo (big eyewear show in Paris) begins and everyone release new collections...

This is the best thing I've seen as yet, from RetroSuperFuture - sums the brand's name up really: retro, futuristic, and super (he said in an Enid Blytonesque English accent).
