Marimekko makes its mark on eyewear

Anyone who knows their Scandinavian textiles will know and no doubt love Marrimekko, the Finnish designers known for the perfect prints.

Good news if you're after the eyewear as it's just been launched. As you'd expect there are subtle, tasteful shapes (above) and some great colours (left).

And some even feature Marimekko prints incorporated into the design (below)...

Round glasses from Rims & Goggles - striking if they suit

Round glasses from RoundGlasses: Architect in Cardinal Red

Round glasses from RoundGlasses: Rondo Due in high-contrast tortoiseshell

Round glasses from RoundGlasses: Jacqueline in purple
Homer Owner of Rims & Goggles Optical Boutique in San Francisco is the first to admit that round glasses are not for everyone, but he adds, "when a man or a woman has the personality and facial structure that can be complimented by wearing round glasses, there will be few things in their wardrobe that are as strikingly individual".

Homer has a point, if they suit you they are brilliant. Here we showcase a few from Rims & Goggles' own RoundGlasses collection. Top is Architect in Cardinal Red, next down are the "high-contrast" tortoiseshell Rondo Due frames and finally the not-quite-round Jacqueline in a great crystal purple.

Massada glasses: Coffee means Dr Strange Love is no Sleeper

That was Sleeper.
This is Coffee...

This is clearly more Sleeper...

And this is Dr Strange Love...

And together they are just some of the highlights from Massada Eyewear's AW2010 collection; a new framemaker with Polish and British designers and some great classic shapes. I'm quite tempted by the round ones!

Giorgio Armani round classic glasses, for him and her

Every now and then one of the mainstream designer brands gets things right, so here Giorgio Armani glasses make their debut on EWG. Part of GA's "Frames for life" collection (i.e. you can live your life in them, rather than a rather bold life-time guarantee), he wears GA828 while she has on GA789.

Remember, people with glasses read – lots.

Mykita's Johann panto glasses - a 1930s frame, 80 years on

Mykita's Johann panto glasses - 1930s frames 80 years on
This terrific off-white frame from Mykita is reminiscent of the 1930s but with that clever hinge and ultra-thin stainless steel it is brought bang up to date. Part of Mykita's Decades collection, it is also available in chocolate and black.

Round pink sunglasses. Yum

Hats off to Lis in the Buddka. Styletastic.

Anyone who's hung around opticians a little will have seen the dummy lenses that they use to show off the different colours available should you fancy some presciption sunnies.

Next time, you see two that match...
